Deliverance.

Deliverance from the Lord comes in many shapes and forms.

That's the thought that has passed through my brain several times over that last few weeks… months. I love it when God does that. He whispers thoughts into my ear, the same thought over and over again. Sometimes it’s such a quiet thought that I don’t even realize I’ve been having it until he’s ready to show me the whole picture at one time. Then I realize He’s been working on something BIG, but like the romantic He is, He slowly woos me into it, making it more real than real itself!!

Back to the thought…

Sometimes we require the “Parting of the Red Sea” kind of deliverance. When satan has been beating on us for so long that God has to pull out all the stops and show Himself BIG TIME!!

Other times, it’s just in little situations. Like this morning… when I was about to put a doughnut in my mouth that I had hoarded on Friday to enjoy sometime this week. The second my teeth came down, I KNEW!! Something WASN’T right here! Because it had been left in its little cardboard box, it had become stale and GROSS!! I instantly spit it out into the garbage can and gave God the praise for delivering me from the calories, the sugar hangover and the pounds staying ON from that doughnut.

Hey, sometimes you better grab victory where you can get it.

As I was in the middle of writing this, my phone rang. It was my sister, Stacey, calling to join in on my mini praise fest with some praising of her on!

Y’all please be praying for her. Tomorrow she goes in to have BOTH her kidneys “laser rayed” (Lithotripsy) to break up several large kidney stones. She’s been suffering with them since last week. So in preparation for her surgery she ran into Publix to grab a few things easy for them to fix, knowing she’d be in no shape for any serious cooking.

As she paid, an older man named Ed bagged her groceries and headed out behind her to assist her, by putting the groceries in the car. She waited quietly, not feeling much like conversation, as he placed the bags in the back of her SUV, one at a time. Finally, as he placed the last bag in, he turned and looked at her. He said, “I hope you don’t mind me saying this, but God has told me that you have a heavy heart and He wants me to pray with you.” Shocked and awed, Stacey said, “Yes, I do have a heavy heart. I’m having surgery tomorrow. I just signed my consent paper. I’ve already had one surgery and this will be my second one within 5 days so I’m very stressed out.”

“God wants you to know that everything is going to be okay. He put you in my lane so I could pray with you so, do you mind if I obey God and pray with your right here?” Stacey heartily told him that she would love that!

After telling him her name, Ed began praying, “Father, you said where two or more are gathered in your name, there I will also be. Stacey in burdened, please give her peace. You put her in my life for a reason and I believe it is so I can help her pray for peace, because maybe she doesn’t know how or maybe we need to have two people call on your name.” He prayed for God to give her complete peace and safety during the surgery, so that they could give HIM all the praise and ended, “in Jesus name…”

AMEN!!! Talk about “Red Sea Deliverance”!! He went on to say that he could tell that she was a child of God and because of that she had nothing to fear, but sometimes our minds like to play games with us or the devil tells us lies.

Ain’t it the truth!

Whoo!! I’m still on shouting grounds!!! God set that whole situation up, one, to give Stacey what she needed at the time she needed it most, but also, to give me a perfect object lesson!! Isn’t He a-ma-za-ZING!

Yep, deliverance comes in many forms, but are often not what we are thinking it should look like.
