TAPS

There once was an old lady. No, not the one who lived in a shoe. LOL. The one who allowed a new Christian to take her Bible home so that he could read the notes she had taken over the years. As the young proselyte read through the sweet Christian lady’s warn, old leather Bible, he noticed that she had written the word tap beside several verse. Tried as he may, he could not figure out for the life of him what tap meant.

Weeks later after he had gleaned all he could from the elderly lady’s notes, he returned her Bible She asked him a few questions, did he learn anything from her notes and did he have any questions. He exclaimed how much reading her notes had opened up the Word of God for him, but that he did have one question.

“I noticed beside several verses you had written the word tap. Whatever does it mean?!”

The kind lady chuckled and said, “Not the word tap, but the acronym TAP. It stands for tried and proven. I put that by the verses that tell of God’s goodness or his promises. When I’ve seen God work those verse out in my own life, I write TAP because that verse has been tried and has been proven to be true.”

The young Christian asked one final question, “Have you ever found one of God’s promises where you weren’t able to write TAP beside?”

“No, never,” was her reply.

I heard that story many, MANY years ago and it has always stuck with me. I’ve written TAP beside many of God’s wonderful promises in my own Bible, to be sure. As I was reading these verses this morning, the story of the little old Christian lady and her TAPS came to mind once again.

How many promise have not been claimed from God’s word? How many are just waiting to be proven to us in our own lives? God loves to lavish His love on his faithful children. He sure doesn’t have to. He “tried and proved” his love towards us as every ounce of His life flowed from his body down to the rock ground of Calvary's hill. Still He knows that we humans have to be reminded time and time again that He is faithful and can be fully trusted.

If you’ve never TAPped into the Lord’s promises before, then I encourage you to try it. Take God at His word and try and prove a few of those Biblical promises today.

Here's a few of those promises....
